Celebrating Juliet’s 1st Birthday

I can’t believe Juliet is O N E. I feel like most parents say that the first year flies by, and it really does! Ryan and I definitely have a sense of accomplishment for getting to this milestone. I remember how nervous I was to give birth, become a mom and experience the big life change that was upon us. Honestly, none of it was easy. It was all hard. No one can really prepare you for that, you have to experience it all on your own.

Looking back, I’ve realized I’m a different person now. This journey changes you whether you like it or not. It’s something that I’ve welcomed and feels so rewarding to see myself grow with this new little one along for the ride. Many nights were filled with tears (me and her both), worries, and others were filled with laughter and smiles. All-in-all, it was hard but so worth it. I keep telling Ryan, “Can you believe we made her?!” It’s cheesy, but it just amazes me that we bring these amazing little humans into the world. I feel really humbled by that thought.

PARTY DETAILS

I wanted to create a mix of simple, modern, floral, and a bit of glitz for Juliet’s party. The main thing I centered my attention on was the backdrop for her smash cake area. I’d been seeing these painted boards all over Pinterest and loved the modern look of them. Since i’m the DIY type, I figured it was easy enough to make. With a little sanding, Ryan’s help cutting the top curve and some paint, I was able to achieve the look I wanted and didn’t have to pay a lot. I also really wanted to incorporate a big balloon garland, because it wouldn’t be a kids party without some sort of balloon floating around somewhere. ;) Below are more details of her special day with links! Enjoy!

Wood back drop - plywood, paint and hinges from Home Depot, pink balloons (here, here and here), balloon garland kit, and dried florals- here, here and here.

I bought a large drop cloth from Lowe’s and my first attempt was a real bust. I had written this phrase by hand on the drop cloth and it looked horrible. Decided to cut that part out and used my Cricut machine to add on this phrase with iron-on vinyl. Worked like a charm and looks super cute!

I wanted to get speciality cookies made for the occasion. I wanted something simple and soft with just a hint of glitz. These amazing cookies were made by Mother Theresa Cookies. Check her out on Instagram.

I wanted to incorporate her twelve month photos but display them in a chic way. This idea I totally stole from Pinterest. Thanks, Pinterest! I bought the unfinished board already cut from Home Depot. The white vinyl lettering was cut using my Cricut machine and arranged on the board how I wanted it. Her name I cut with my laser cutting machine and then painted light pink to match the theme. The photos I had printed at CVS. They offer square prints at a reasonable price.

The treat bags I found at hobby lobby along with the yarn.

I wanted to include a glam and fun kids table. I first layered the table with this crepe paper runner and cut the fringe on the sides. I added a lace runner on top that I had, added some dried florals in pink vases (borrowed from my mother-in-law), and some gold disco balls to add some sparkle. The scalloped pink plates I found on Amazon, and the beautiful white flower plates I found on Ellie and Piper Co. The cups, napkins and cutlery were all from Amazon. The cute party hats, I randomly found at Joann’s on sale! Score! And the cute turkey masks were from the Hobby Lobby seasonal section.

How adorable is this personalized party hat and bib?! I found this Etsy seller who specializes in the cutest party keepsakes.

Because it’s a kids party, we need party animals!! Hats were found at Joann’s on sale and pom poms were make using this maker.

I wanted to add a ONE sign on her high chair. Decided to make it with my Cricut. If you love crafting and don’t have a Cricut machine, you need to get one!! I’ve used it so much over the years. Adding the dried flowers completes it!

Lastly, I didn’t have time to make a video from the past year of her, so I decided to print pictures of our family and friends with her and display them at the party for all the party goers to enjoy!
